Who’s behind Israel Select?

This is Rabbi Josh Friedman.

A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Rabbi Friedman is a trained actuary who worked on Wall Street for New York Life, Guardian, and SCOR on Wall Street.

Nearly two decades ago, he and his family immigrated to Israel. Amidst all the holiness and vibrancy of the Start-up Nation, Rabbi Friedman was surprised to find so much pain and suffering.

Through his work in Jewish institutions in Israel, as well as the daily comings-and-goings of his life, he has met people who need help but unfortunately are just not getting it.

Josh felt a responsibility to do something about the situation, so he founded Israel Select Charity Fund to start a revolution in effective and direct charitable giving.

Founding Principles

Rabbi Friedman was adamant. If he was going to do this, there were certain ground rules:

No fees

It had to be a complete non-profit: all donations would go directly to the charities, not into the pockets of our fund's administrators.

No fine print

It had to be done with complete integrity: all transactions would be 100% transparent, with donor funds going exactly where the donor intended.

No funds wasted

It had to be done with complete acumen: all charities would need to demonstrate that the money was wisely used and that their organization was run efficiently.

Charity Profiles

We select organizations and causes doing life-saving work. We research each one to ensure they are well-run and effectively helping their target audience. Then we support them in their holy work.
